Felted jumpers!

turquoise, red, gold felted squares sewn into a small blanket

The photo’s a bit blurry (camera batteries running down) but this is what I did this week, beside the website. I felted a couple of old jumpers by washing them at 95 degrees, cut them into mostly squares and sewed them together. Not sure where this is going because I’ve now run out of squares, but it’s fun to put on my knees if it gets cold, even though it isn’t finished!

  1. Love the colour combo. You could always trawl charity shops for more woolly jumpers!

  2. Why are you Brits so good with textiles?
    Those colors are gorgeous!

  3. I love the colours too –
I was wondering how big are the squares?

  4. Thank you, everyone! Sharon, the squares are 5 inches square – and I sewed them together with a 3 step zigzag stitch so I could do them flat and save having bulky seams. I’ll have to go over some of it, I think, because some of the stitches didn’t catch, but I plan on couching yarn over them anyway.

  5. lovely Liz, warm and beautiful,

  6. Liz, this is beautiful, I’ve been wanting to gather up some sweaters at my local thrift shops to make a jacket, and you may have inspired me to finally do it!!! You’re so talented!!! Have a wonderful holiday!!!
