Winter setting in…

I saw a blackbird on the top of the compost bin this morning, obviously enjoying some of the contents. It flew away before I had a chance to take a photo. There’s a friendly robin who also seems to regard our scraps as a gourmet meal.

These bits and pieces don’t look very appetising to me!

The birds don’t seem to have many berries to eat this year. This pyracantha was heaving with berries right until this spring. Maybe I should have pruned it a bit more viciously! Or maybe the mild autumn confused it…
