When I grilled some lamb chops a few weeks ago, the grill caught fire. I turned the oven off and thought nothing of it. But then I noticed that the oven would turn itself off unpredictably, just when you were hoping to have a hot meal. The crunch came when our Sunday lunch was late – DH and I went off to Cardiff to get a new oven the very next Wednesday!
Here’s the old oven – the burn marks on the top are quite obvious so it must have affected the thermostat or something. DH purloined the top to make something which will give him a better reception for his air band radio which he uses to listen to aircraft – he collects aircraft registration numbers. (And you thought I was weird collecting rusty objects….). It is now languishing at the local tip (the oven, not the top!).
Here is our new oven, looking clean and shiny and you can actually SEE stuff cooking in there! It won’t look like that for long, alas. So now we can have meals on time again….
