Entries from March 2008
Over the last few weeks I have acquired a lot of things from Etsy sellers and three of them arrived this morning so I thought I would post pictures of them all here.
I did a trade with Marion of Artmixter - Spiralling Joy went to a new home and I acquired:

Art Quilt Window and Dream Journey. Aren’t I lucky?
The Boomers Street Team also had a swap, and this morning mine arrived:
This is ‘Galaxy’ by Jean Hood.
I have also bought a few ACEOs …
These are White Tree and Black Tree by Sixsisters.
And this one arrived today:
This is Blue myrtle mixed media monotype by Nancy Ryan. I was her very first customer!
This is another very unusual ACEO I bought from ZudaGay, who makes amazing and beautiful things with polymer clay…

Just a quick reminder that my Gocco on Ebay (the yellow one) is finishing this afternoon!
One thing I should have made clear is that I am only posting to the UK - it is quite heavy so the cost of mailing abroad will be quite high. And they are quite scarce in the UK and Europe so it could be argued that we have more need of them…… what do you mean, we don’t need…. of course we neeeeeed a new toy to play with!!!

Where did this week go? There I was, promising more photos tomorrow and all of a sudden it’s Friday!
Here are some of the cards I printed all drying.
I decided to overprint some of the bird cards I did last time.
This is some of the fabric I printed in January, overprinted with the angelica seedhead print.
Here are the Gocco screens all cleaned and drying after the session. At the top you can see one of the Thermofax screens which I framed with duct tape. The floor is very useful and gets very full during these sessions!
Have a good holiday weekend! It is sunny but VERY blustery here….

I couldn’t resist putting these up straight away because I love how they’ve turned out.
When the Print Gocco machines arrived, I had to test them to make sure they all worked before I put them on Ebay… oh, what hardship!! So I have several new screens to try out.
Here are some of the results. I wanted to try waterbased paints because the Gocco inks are oil based and quite time consuming to clean. So I printed these using Golden screenprinting medium 1:1 with Golden acrylic paints.
The first one I did is based on this photo which I took in Birmingham, of some old warehouses beside the canal.
I took the middle bit of the picture…
Here are some of the results:
Here they are overprinted on to fabric. The fabric is rather stiff at the moment - I’m going to wash it and see if it loosens up. But I don’t really mind - I love the effect! I’m going to try screenprinting inks for fabric next to see what they are like. These were a little too liquid and the best prints were those which I took when the paint was running out a little. Some more fabric here:
I did loads more - mostly on card - these are just a sample. I then did some based on a photo of this angelica seedhead which I took a couple of years ago.
This is on a pocket-sized Moleskine journal which will probably find its way to Etsy soon…
I also did a bit of surreal overprinting!
I also made a screen based on a photo of one of the breakdown printing screens (the one with the polystyrene plate) and made it into a flyer for my shop - I took the laser copy and stuck paper on top of it with my details - this is how it printed (I was using the Gocco inks for these as the acrylic paint/medium mix would have been too blurry for the writing). I like the effect - I think it looks like a world globe. It has metallic inks in this one. I did lots to save getting business cards printed too soon!! I also printed some on Tyvek:
And on some of my rust fabric:
More photos tomorrow!

Last night I had an email from one of the bidders on one of my Print Gocco machines saying she had had an email, purporting to be from me via Ebay, asking what her highest offer would be on the printer. She did some research and discovered it was a spoof. I thought I would highlight it here in case anyone else gets one. It wasn’t from me or Ebay - it was from a spammer and they are trying to get people to give them their bank details.
I have had similar emails before about things I haven’t even bidded on or saying ’such and such that you are selling’ but I didn’t realise that these spammers had the technology to email buyers about specific items which they have bidded on. So I thought I would highlight it here to warn people that it goes on…. I’m sure most of you know already, but it bears repeating, and being a relative newcomer to selling on Ebay (though not to buying!!!!!!!) it is not nice to be on the receiving end of someone trying to tarnish my reputation as a seller.
Coincidentally I was listening to Radio Bristol this morning (as I always do while in my studio … as an exiled Englishwoman!!) they were talking about these scams on Ebay.
The advice they gave, and that I would give to anyone who receives them, apart from deleting them, is NEVER to click on any links on these emails but always to go to ‘My Ebay’ and check that the message is in there. If it is, it is genuine.
And if you’re reading this blog and are bidding on either of my Goccos, rest assured that I would never send such an email to you.
And if you’re fed up with all this talk about Goccos and Ebay and Etsy, rest assured - photos will follow soon! I just had a printing fest in my studio all morning (okay, it will be about Print Gocco because they were those screens..) - I’m pleased with the results. Photos as soon as they are dry!!!
