Slogging up Snowdon

On the last day of our holiday in North Wales, we went up Snowdon, Wales’ highest mountain.  It felt it, too.  Except for DS1 and 2 who got to the summit an hour before the rest of us!

The views were ALMOST worth it, though.

I have put this one as my computer desktop background.  To remind me of the aching muscles and joints …

Here I am on the summit with plenty of other people, most of whom came up on the railway and only walked the last bit (still a lot because it doesn’t go quite to the top at present because they are rebuilding the terminal and the cafe/visitor centre).  It should have been finished this summer but they had too much snow here in April which apparently delayed it.  It looks as if it will be lovely when it is finished, clad with Welsh slate; the old cafe was known as the highest slum in Wales.

I didn’t get a proper photo of the emergent visitor centre but I took some of it by accident whilst capturing the view!

I found some wonderful lichen on a rock on the way down (on the way up, I was more concerned with getting myself there than taking photos!).

We got down before the cloud beat us to it, luckily!
