Snow Days

Along with most of the UK, we had a few inches of snow yesterday.  I went for a walk in it; I love the crunchy feel of compacted snow under my boots.

The fountain in the park had a nice white coat.

snowy fence

So did this fence.

contrasts

I love the contrast between the crisp, glistening snow and the peeling, dilapilated paintwork.

Meanwhile the view through the fence to the abandoned steelworks site looks like a lunar landscape.

tracks in the snow

The car which left these tracks looks as if it had an interesting drive up the hill (it’s one way so I’m assuming the driver was parking and not skidding downhill!).

We had another few inches last night – I went for a walk tonight and took these photos with my mobile phone in the early evening.

snowy branches

The snow remained on the trees all day despite the sun shining.

snowy night

This looks like a visitation from on high!  Actually it’s a telephone wire (or similar) and the glare from a street lamp.

And it’s bye from me for now!

  1. Snow is such a pain but it is so beautiful to look at. Thanks for sharing these photos; so far, happily, I have no such thing to take pictures of. But I suppose that is not far off:-(.
    Happy holidays, Liz.

  2. What a lovely display of how snow can make an ordinary landscape setting absolutely stunning and in the next scene a hint of humor. Interesting to see how Europe and the US have been having brutally cold and snowy winters thus far. Haven’t heard much from the global warming advocates lately!
