Playing with Paint Shop Pro

My youngest son, Zac, and I went to the U2 concert in Cardiff on Saturday and afterwards, he asked me to take a photo of him outside the Millennium Stadium with his mobile phone.  Unfortunately it doesn’t have a flash and as it was about 11pm, it was rather dark!  So this is how the photo turned out:

dark photo

It looks rather unpromising, doesn’t it?  But he asked me if I could do anything with it, so I had a play in Paint Shop Pro!  Now, I haven’t done any tutorials in PSP and don’t know anything about layers etc, so maybe there could be other things I could have done but this is what I came up with, just messing around with the various settings:

He liked this one!  i think I got it by clicking on ‘adjust brightness and contrast’.

Here are a few other photos I came up with:

I had fun, anyway!!

Yup, the red and black one is the best! I really like PSP and the magic it can bestow on bad photos.

Aren’t we so lucky nowadays that we can sort out our own photos and not have to wait for
a week for them to be processed? This one would have come back with a sticker but you did some great stuff with it.

Great blog. I can’t wait to read more. I am very anxious to try some of the things you have done with PSP. Thanks for the ideas.
